About Us

Victorian-born Founder & Director Matthew Vaughan established Base Air in 2005 – registered then as ‘Ride and Glide’.
The term ‘BASE’ was coined soon after, as an acronym of ‘Balance and Safety Enhancement.’ Base Air’s initial concept of stabilising heavy vehicles with not one, but two height-control valves, came after consultation with a close-knit community of rural Victorian truck drivers, with the focus being on improving vehicle stability and reducing driver fatigue.

Further development with a dedicated team in the United States from 2016 – 2019 saw dramatic improvement in the Base Air system, with the addition of new cross-flow technology, and refined height-control valves. The introduction and later partnership with global pneumatics manufacturer Camozzi Automation S.p.A. in 2018, led to the creation of the latest patented Base Air technology.

After 15 years of research and development, made possible through the backing of loyal Australian shareholders, Base Air was pleased to introduce its product to the Australian heavy vehicle industry in late-2020, with full market launch set for 2022.
